A Note on Our Sanctuary and Boundaries

Welcome to the Room. Before we step into the necessary legal framework of our website, we want to share the heart of how we hold this space, and how we invite you to hold it with us.

This is a practice space, not a clinic.

While we draw from contemporary psychology, Internal Family Systems (parts work), and somatic resourcing to explore the stories we love, please hear us clearly: we are not therapy. The conversations, weekly card pulls, practices, and downloadable guides shared in the Room are intended solely for personal reflection, creative exploration, and self–led study. They are not a replacement for professional therapy, clinical treatment, or medical advice. If you find yourself in need of clinical mental health support, we gently encourage you to seek out a licensed professional who can provide a dedicated container for your healing.

This is a sanctuary, not a public square.

We care deeply about building a homey, restorative community of practice. To protect that sanctuary, we stand firmly as a queer–affirming and trans–affirming space. We are committed to a practice of safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, and mutual empowerment. Our digital spaces are designed to hold deep curiosity, gray areas, and mutual support—they are not avenues to explore hatefulness, bigotry, or discrimination. We reserve the absolute right to protect this boundary and keep our circles safe for everyone.

By stepping across our digital threshold, you are choosing to walk this path as a self–sovereign companion on the journey, agreeing to hold this space with the same respect, curiosity, and responsibility we offer to you.

We care deeply about your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data in a transparent, honest way. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit our digital sanctuary.

1. The Information We Collect

We only collect the bare minimum of information required to run the Room and keep in touch with you:

• Email Addresses: When you voluntarily choose to sign up for our Substack newsletter, we collect your email address so we can send you our weekly companion reflections.
• Voluntary Contact Information: If you use our contact form to send us a question, we collect your name and email address to reply to you.
• Derivative and Analytics Data: Our servers automatically collect standard, anonymous web traffic data (such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit) to help us understand how seekers find the Room and what content resonates.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data strictly to maintain the sanctuary. This includes:

• Delivering your weekly companion newsletter via Substack.
• Responding to your questions or feedback.
• Monitoring site performance and fixing broken code (like CSS hiccups!).
• We will never sell, rent, lease, or distribute your personal information to third parties.

3. Third–Party Services We Use

To keep the Room running sustainably, we partner with a few trusted external platforms. These platforms have their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data:

• Substack: Manages our email subscription list, handles our newsletter distribution, and processes any voluntary subscription contributions.
• Spotify for Creators / Podcast Hosting: Powers our embedded audio players.
• Google Analytics / Web Hosting Caches: Tracks anonymous site traffic so we can see how people navigate the pages.

4. GDPR and UK Data Protection Rights (For European Visitors)

If you are visiting from the European Union or United Kingdom, you are entitled to specific rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right to Access and Rectification: You can request a copy of the email data we hold or ask us to correct any inaccuracies.

5. CCPA/CPRA Privacy Rights (For California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) grants you specific rights:

• You have the right to request that we disclose what personal data we collect (only email addresses and anonymous analytics).
• You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data.
• Do Not Sell My Info: We do not sell your personal data. Period.

6. CalOPPA “Do Not Track” (DNT) Disclosure

California law requires us to state how we respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals. Because there is currently no industry–standard consensus for DNT signals, our website does not alter its behavior when it detects a DNT browser setting.

7. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Protecting the privacy of young children is especially important to us. The Room of Requirement is not directed to, nor do we knowingly collect personal information from, children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with their email address, please contact us immediately, and we will promptly remove it from our systems.
