About
The Heart of the Room
The beliefs we hold here.
Explore the beliefs, weekly practice, and perspectives that shape every episode.
The Room of Requirement appears to those who truly need it, and we love that idea because we think meaningful reflection works the same way.
You can’t force insight, and you can’t manufacture wisdom, but you can create the conditions where they have room to emerge.
Every room has a feeling.
Some rooms make us want to speak up, while others make us want to stay quiet.
Some make us feel like we have to have the right answers.
When we imagined the Room, we hoped it would feel different: a gentle, imaginative sanctuary where people can slow down, stay curious, and wonder together.
These aren’t rules for being here, and they’re not beliefs we expect everyone to share.
They are simply the ideas that shape the way we approach stories, one another, and ourselves.
Story as Mirror
Story is a mirror.
We believe stories have a way of showing us things we couldn’t see directly.
Rather than asking, “What’s the correct interpretation?” we’re usually more interested in asking, “Why did this part stay with me?”
That question has changed the way we read stories, and the way we move through our own lives.
Questions Over Answers
Questions matter more than answers.
We don’t make this podcast because we think we have the answers.
If anything, each episode leaves us with better questions than the ones we started with.
We’ve found that curiosity tends to open conversations that certainty never could.
No Single Path
There is no one-size-fits-all path.
Two people can read the same chapter and walk away with completely different experiences.
We love that.
Our hope isn’t that listeners agree with us. It’s that the conversation helps you discover something that feels true for you.
Your Inner Knowing
Your inner knowing always matters.
One of the things we come back to again and again is the idea that we already carry more wisdom than we often realize.
Life gets noisy, fear gets loud, and other people’s expectations have a way of piling up.
Sometimes all we need is a little space to hear ourselves again.
All Parts Welcome
All parts are welcome here.
We’ve both found a lot of freedom in the idea that there are no bad parts.
The parts of us that overthink, shut down, get defensive, people-please, or try to stay in control aren’t trying to make life harder, they’re trying to help in the best way they know how.
We think those parts deserve curiosity before criticism.
The Body Belongs
The body belongs in the conversation.
We spend a lot of time in our heads, and this podcast is our reminder to come back to the rest of ourselves.
Our bodies are paying attention long before our minds have figured everything out.
That’s why every episode begins with a grounding practice so we can arrive together, not just intellectually, but fully.
Space for Nuance
Complexity is worth staying with.
Some of life’s biggest questions don’t have simple answers.
We don’t expect everyone to agree with us, and we certainly don’t agree with each other all the time.
But we’ve learned that some of the richest conversations happen when we’re willing to stay with the tension a little longer instead of rushing to resolve it.
Wisdom in Relationship
We aren't meant to do this alone.
Stories have always brought people together.
Long before podcasts, people gathered to tell stories, ask questions, laugh, grieve, and try to make sense of the world together.
We don’t think that has changed, and the Room is simply our way of continuing that tradition.
Belonging Exactly as You Are
We don’t believe in checking parts of yourself at the door.
The protector who tries to keep you safe through overthinking? They are welcome.
The skeptic who wonders if a children’s book can really hold depth? They are welcome, too.
We don’t ask you to agree with our interpretations, master our frameworks, or arrive with a quiet mind.
We only ask that you show up with a little bit of curiosity.
This sanctuary isn’t built for perfect people who have their lives figured out. It is built for seekers who are actively living the questions. If you’ve been looking for a place where your complexity is honored, your nervous system is allowed to rest, and your whole self is invited to pull up a chair: know that there is a seat waiting here for you.
We’re so glad you found your way to this Room.
Now that you’ve aligned with the beliefs that give this Room its heartbeat, explore the weekly rhythm of our practice and the lenses we use to navigate it.
See You in the Room
Join us each week as we read one chapter at a time and discover what the story might reveal about the lives we’re living.
