We Welcome Questions

If you’re new to the Room of Requirement podcast, you might have a few questions.

So did we.

Here are some of the ones we hear most often.

Not at all.

It certainly helps if you’re familiar with the story, but you don’t need to know every spell, every character, or every plot point to enjoy the conversation.

At its heart, the podcast isn’t about becoming a Harry Potter expert.

It’s about becoming more curious about ourselves.

Harry Potter is simply the story we’ve chosen to practice with.

If you’d like to, yes!

At the end of every episode, we pull the cards for the following week’s chapter so listeners can read alongside us if they want to.

Some people love reading first.

Others prefer to experience the chapter through conversation.

There’s no right way to join us.

Harry Potter is often thought of as a children’s series, but this podcast is made with adults in mind.

Our conversations explore topics like psychology, relationships, trauma, spirituality, identity, grief, and other parts of the human experience. We also occasionally use adult language.

We don’t include explicit content for the sake of it, but we also don’t shy away from honest conversations when the story invites them.

Some parents may choose to read the books with their children while saving the podcast for themselves. Others may feel comfortable sharing selected conversations with older teens.

Ultimately, we encourage parents and caregivers to use their own judgment about what’s appropriate for their family.

No.

You don’t need to believe in tarot any more than you need to believe in metaphors.

For us, tarot and oracle cards aren’t about predicting the future.

They’re a way of slowing down and paying attention. They help us ask questions we may not have thought to ask on our own.

Some listeners approach them spiritually.

Others psychologically.

Some are simply curious.

All are welcome.

No.

We’re interested in spirituality, meaning-making, ritual, and the questions that help us feel more fully alive.

Our conversations draw inspiration from many traditions, but we aren’t affiliated with any religion or spiritual path.

You don’t need to share our beliefs to feel at home in the Room.

No.

The podcast isn’t therapy, nor is it a substitute for working with a qualified mental health professional.

We often talk about psychology, trauma, nervous systems, and Internal Family Systems because they’ve been meaningful in our own lives and have shaped the way we understand ourselves.

Our hope is that these conversations encourage reflection, curiosity, and self-understanding. If something comes up that you want to explore more deeply, we encourage you to seek support from a qualified professional.

Because it’s the story that brought us together.

More importantly, it’s the story we’ve chosen to practice with.

We’ve written more about that—including our thoughts on the author’s public statements and why we continue engaging with the story—on our The Story page.

Wonderful.

Seriously.

One of our favorite things about stories is that they meet each of us differently.

We don’t believe there’s one “correct” reading of a chapter.

If our conversation leads you somewhere completely different, we think that’s part of the practice.

You can begin with the newest episode, or you can start with Chapter One and read alongside us from the beginning.

Either way, we’ll meet you where you are.

The Room has always had a way of appearing when it’s needed.

We hope this one does too.

We hope so.

One of the things we’ve learned is that good questions tend to lead to even better conversations.

If there’s something you’re wondering about that isn’t answered here, we’d genuinely love to hear from you.

Every thoughtful question helps make the Room a little richer.

We’re really glad you’re here.

Living the Questions

We don’t believe in having it all figured out before we begin.

A good question doesn’t seek to shut down conversation.

It seeks to open a door.

It invites us to slow down and stay curious.

It asks us to notice what we’ve been ignoring.

And it trusts that we already carry the wisdom we are looking for.

The Room is not a place for clinical certainty, rigid dogma, or easy, packaged answers. It is a shared practice of staying curious about our own lives, using the stories we love as a gentle playground for self-discovery. We are all beginners here, learning to listen to our bodies, honor our protective parts, and hold space for the beautiful complexity of being human.

If you have a question that isn’t on this list, or if a particular question of your own is currently looking for room to breathe…

We are always here to listen.
